With only 24 hours in a day, it becomes a bit daunting knowing that we have such little time to deal with all the tasks we need to get done.

I’m sure we’ve all asked ourselves these questions at least once in our lives, how do I use my time more effectively? Is it possible to find a healthy work/life balance?

If you’ve ever asked yourself this, here are 3 essentials tips that I find might help get the job done.


1. Do the most important thing first.


Our daily to-do list seems to grow throughout the day, which in my experience, not only drains my willpower but also adds to the disorder and chaos to any planned activities. It’s crucial in these situations to just clear your mind and think practically on what are the most important things that need to be done.

At the end of the day it is always better to focus on what is most important first.  You will find yourself having a more productive day this way, take my word for it.


2. Eliminate half–work at all costs.


When we try to balance out multiple tasks during the day, it’s quite common to lose full engagement in any single task at hand, which is what I personally call “half-work”.

While others may think that multitasking is the way to go to achieve more in a shorter amount of time, I personally don’t think that’s the best way to get around it! I say this because ‘half-work’ not only divides your time and energy, but it also provides much more room for distractions and incompetence.

I have learned that when it comes to managing my time, I find it more efficient to focus entirely on one matter, and one matter alone. Focusing on one task can eliminate the many distractions I encounter almost completely, and with such little time during the day to get my tasks done, the more I focus on the one task, the more efficient I am to getting it done in a shorter period of time.

That’s what I call, working efficiently!


3. Reduce the scope, but stick to the schedule.


I know I know..following a schedule is easier said than done.

After all, we all find ourselves faced with distractions and problems that pull us off track, guilty as charged! Nonetheless, following a schedule is not impossible, as long as we prioritize getting it done during the day. By making sure our schedule takes all possible challenges into consideration , a few distractions during the day won’t hurt!

I personally find that when I create a schedule that includes only the most important of tasks, sticking to the schedule no longer becomes a struggle. Remember that it is important to at least finish something for the day in its entirety than nothing at all.

It sure has helped me get more done on a daily basis!
